Herbert Howard Wilson, 86, of Elberta, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015.
He was born in Charleston, S.C. and raised in McAlpin, Fla.
After high school, he proudly served two years in the U.S. Army, then later joined the Merchant Marines. He retired 34 years after sailing for United States Steel.
Herbert had a passion for reading, mechanics and enjoying his retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley; three daughters, Sybil Zimmerman of Apple Valley, Minn., Carol Eldien of International Falls, Minn. and Diane Olstad of Spearfish, S.D.; a son, James Wilson of Tallahassee, Fla.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6-7 on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 at Pine Rest Funeral Home.
