Herbert John “Zack” Zackrison, 82, died peacefully, Monday, June 6, 2011 after struggling with lung diseason.
He was a devoted and caring man beloved by his family and friends.
He was born March 22, 1929, in Seattle. He was a graduate of Bothell High School. He graduated from Washington State University receiving a Bachelor in Science in agricultural engineering. He was a Korean War veteran that served in the Air Force.
After spending most of his career working as a professional engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he retired in 1997 and moved to Foley.
He was a devoted Christian and attended Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in Elberta. He cherished the love and comfort provided by his Christian friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edith Zackrison; brother, Ronald Zackrison; and his his first wife, Janice Irene Zackrison.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbye Kurtts Zackrison of Foley; three daughters, Cheryl (Barry) Chapman of Germantown, Tenn., Cynthia (Chuck) Pritchett of Mobile and Susan (Dusty) Brown of Mobile; grandchildren, Suzanne, James and Jonathan Chapman of Germantown, Christine Pritchett of Mobile; four stepsons, Jimmy (Nancy) Kurtts of Hendersonville, N.C., Bob Kurtts of Montgomery, Randy Kurtts of Elberta and Dr. Terry (Diana) Kurtts of Elberta; his stepsons’ families and their children’s families.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. with funeral services at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, Elberta. Interment will follow at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery.
