FOLEY — The Third Annual Grand Hispanic-Latino Festival will be held this weekend at the Foley Civic Center. "Proclaiming Liberty in Jesus Christ" is the Festival theme for this evangelistic event.
Admission to the Festival is free. It begins Saturday and Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center located at 407 E. Laurel Ave. (U.S. Highway 98 East). International guests include Ruben Sotelo from Mexico and evangelist Iosmar Alvarez from Cuba.
Live Christian music will be performed at the Festival, which is sponsored by the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church and Mision San Pedro.
Leading up to last year's Festival, Martha Rovira-Raber, coordinator of Hispanic/Latino Ministries for the Alabama-West Florida Conference, put the number of Hispanics in Baldwin County at 9,000 to 10,000 depending on the growing season. She said 17,000 to 20,000 Hispanics live in Mobile County.
The Festival, billed as "two nights of glory and power," is expected to draw not only locals, but those from Mobile and Pensacola as well.
