SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Numerous alligators and nesting osprey are among the many natural sights in the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta reportedly observed from the Blakeley State Park’s Delta Explorer during the past 10 days.
The next public “walk on” tour is set for July 30 leaving at 9:30 a.m.
Tickets for the tour are $22 for adults, $12 for children 6 to 12 and free to children 4 to 5. Seating is on a first come-first serve basis aboard the 55-pasenger boat but may be reserved in advance by calling 251-626-5581 and paying with major credit cards.
The two-hour tour goes north from Blakeley Park’s Tensaw River dock into the Delta, then loops down to the Mobile Causeway and back to dock on a separate route. Cooling air from the moving, covered boat and an on-board restroom add to passengers’ convenience.
A captain and crew narrate the tour. The boat is accessible by wheelchair but not by the heavier, motorized scooters.
Blakeley Park is located on State Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of its intersection with U.S. 31 at Spanish Fort.
