POINT CLEAR, Ala. - The historic Point Clear School building located on Baldwin County 32 near Scenic 98 was destroyed by a fire that started late Wednesday night.

The fire was one of three blazes that local firefighters were called to Wednesday, including a private residence on Nelson Drive and the Deli Depot on Greeno Road. About 50-60 firefighters from Fairhope and neighboring communities tried to contain the school fire. Fire officials said it took about three to four hours to contain. No one was injured in the fire.

The vacant school was built in 1924. The Baldwin County Commission funded the production of a documentary about the school that can be viewed here.

The cause of the school fire is under investigation.
