FOLEY, Ala. — Hobby Lobby has announced that plans are in the works to open its Foley location in mid-October.
Construction is underway on this new 85,000 square-foot building, deemed McKenzie Village and located next to Lowe’s at the intersection of South McKenzie Street and County Road 20.
Upon opening in the Forward City, the major Oklahoma City-based private corporation will offer South Baldwin shoppers more than 70,000 crafting and home decor products in its stores in departments including crafts, wearable art, home accents, frames, jewelry, hobby, paper crafting and scrapbooking, fabric, art supply, seasonal, party supply, floral and needle art.
This is Hobby Lobby’s 19th location in Alabama,” Hobby Lobby spokesman Vince Parker said in a news release.
He added that the endeavor will bring about 35 to 50 jobs to Foley paying $15 per hour for full time and $10 per hour for part-time associates. As previously reported, hiring should begin about six weeks before the store opens.
Plans for the $9 million McKenzie Village project was announced in February by Burton Property Group. Hobby Lobby will occupy 55,000 square feet of the site, with the remaining space anticipated to be housed by Big Lots.
At press time, the façade of the building has taken shape construction crew anticipated to begin paving soon.
