Arthur Holk married Fannie Jo Floyd of Robertsdale in December of 1950. Fannie Jo and her parents, Andrew B. and Claire B. Floyd, had moved to Robertsdale from Linden, Ala.  in August of 1942. Arthur and Fannie Jo met in May and were married December 3.  This year they will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were blessed with two children, Frances Holk-Jones, and Andy Holk. They had four grandchildren, Jennifer Claire Moore (deceased), Grayson Davis Moore, Drew and Starfish Holk.

Arthur and Fannie Jo’s daughter, Frances Holk-Jones, has been a State Farm agent for more than 25 years and worked with her husband, Carl Jones, in the office. She has been a rodeo barrel racer since she was 6-years-old.  She initiated the Jennifer Clair Moore Foundation Rodeo. Frances’ son, Grayson Moore, works in the office of Baldwin Mutual Insurance, with his grandfather, Arthur.

Andy Holk, Arthur and Fannie Jo’s son, has always loved the water. He continues to enjoy his career as a charter boat captain.  Andy and his children, Drew and Starfish, enjoy show skiing and all water sports.

Arthur was elected to the Foley City Council in 1952 and continued to serve in that capacity until 1972. In 1976, he was elected Mayor of Foley, and continued to serve until 1996. While serving as Mayor of Foley, he was elected President of the Alabama League of Municipalities, President of the Alabama League of Municipal Insurance Corporation and Chairman of State of Alabama Aeronautics Commission under Governors Wallace, James and Hunt.
