Virginia Gentry Hollon, born Aug. 22, 1939 in Monroeville and a long time resident of Fairhope, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at a hospital in Mobile.
She was a graduate of Vigor High School, class of 1957, and a 1961 graduate of Auburn University. While a resident of Fairhope she was for several years a regional sales representative for Merck Drug Company. She was an active tennis player and golfer and was associated with several social and charitable organizations on the eastern shore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis A. Gentry Jr. and Mildred Delchamps Gentry.
Survivors include her husband, Frank O. Holon of Fairhope; three daughters, Michelle McAloon, stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia, Charlotte Rust Fibbe of Mobile and Jennifer Rust Lahood of Atlanta; two step-children, Frank T. Hollon of Fairhope and Sally Hollon of Fairhope; together 11 grandchildren; sister, Patricia Edington; brother Curtis A. Gentry III; and their families.
A memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2 at St. James Episcopal Church of Fairhope. Visitation will follow in the Parish Hall.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or St. James Episcopal Church of Fairhope.
