Dolores Baer Holmberg, a native of Chicago and a resident of Fairhope, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007 after a brief illness.

She was born in Chicago and started a family in the suburb of Berwyn before moving to Fairhope with her beloved husband and family in 1961.

While being a loving mother and wife, she ran their pick-your-own blueberry field, and became known as “The Blueberry Lady.” She assisted Bayside Academy one year in teaching an eighth grade science class. She later designed and built homes in a local development. She has been an active member of ESILL and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Her generous spirit and kind soul will not soon be forgotten.

Survivors include her husband, Lennart Holmberg; daughter Christine H. Faems; son Kurt Holmberg of Raleigh, N.C.; and granddaughter Cheryl Faems of Fort Worth, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8271 Whispering Pines Road, Daphne.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, 600 Hoffman Drive, Watertown, WI 53094, or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
