Home-schooled children to get artistic opportunity

FOLEY, Ala. — The Foley Performing Arts Association is offering a slate of classes to ensure children being home-schooled or going to private schools will not miss out on classes in the fine arts.

They have engaged experienced classroom teachers for classes beginning Sept. 14, which will run for 12 weeks.

The series will culminate in an exhibition in December of student art work at the Foley Performing Arts Association, 116 W. Laurel Ave. in downtown Foley, across from Stacey’s Drug Store.

The classes will cost only $84 for children in kindergarten through third grade; $96 for those in fourth through sixth grades and $100 for youth in grades seven through 12.

Children interested in the performing arts can also sign up for classes in dance, including jazz, ballet, lyrical and tap.

There will also be private and class voice lessons.

Musical theater classes will be offered, teaching the triple threat of singing, dancing and acting.

Those students will have the opportunity to perform on a cruise the summer of 2010.
