Homer A. Roberts, 79, a native of Mississippi and resident of Baldwin County for 46 years, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at a local hospital.
He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Baldwin County Highway Department and an active member of the Oyster Bay Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Clarence and Lela Mae Roberts; and three brothers.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Betty Roberts; five sons, Homer (Peggy) Roberts Jr., Curtis (Candy) Roberts, David (Jeannie) Roberts, Glen (Monette) Roberts and Ray Roberts; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Oyster Bay Baptist Church building fund, 4280 Plash Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542 or the charity of your choice.
