FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The 2011 Grandman Triathlon in Fairhope posted a record for registered athletes this year at 727 with 616 finishing.

This year’s overall men’s winners were Chad Hon (42) of Mobile in 1:12:26 and former winner Johnny Harrison (51) of Fairhope 58 second back in second. Sam Hudson of Hattiesburg, Miss., was third.

Last year’s overall winner Rob Felty of Fairhope was unable to compete in the full triathlon, but swam the first leg for the winning relay team of Jeff Hudson (Fairhope-bike) and Anna Jarman (Spanish Fort-Run).

In the women’s division Leah McBride (29) of Pass Christian, Miss., won in 1:20:11 followed by Dustyn Yonke of Pensacola and Jenny Albrecht of Mobile with local favorites Lisa Harrison of Fairhope sixth and Lindsay Overton of Silverhill ninth.

Other Baldwin County runners doing well were husband and wife Jason and Ashley Wilson of Summerdale, each of whom won their age division in the first-timer awards category. Lisa Harrison was also a first-timer winner in her division and Johnny Harrison was the grandmaster winner in 1:13:24.

Olivia Grace Lyons was also recognized as the youngest finisher at 11-years-old. She also took second in the Jubilee Kids Triathlon Sunday. 14-year-old Frances Sledge of Fairhope also won an award in her division.
