DAPHNE, Ala. — New Orleans-based group Honey Island Swamp Band is about to take off on their second tour of the Southeast and Atlantic coast, and will be appearing at Moe’s BBQ and Blues Revue in Daphne on Thursday, Aug. 13.
In April, the band released its outstanding new album, “Wishing Well,” the group’s first full-length release following their eponymous seven-song debut EP recorded at The Plant in Sausalito, Calif. in 2006.
“Wishing Well” was recorded at Fudge Studios in New Orleans, and produced by Tom Drummond from Better Than Ezra, featuring a multitude of new songs from band members Aaron Wilkinson and Chris Mulé, the creative minds behind the group.
The timing of the release couldn’t have been better, as Honey Island Swamp Band made their premiere appearances at French Quarter Festival and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, performed a highly-acclaimed set at the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo festival in May and embarked on a very successful East coast tour in June.
Following this second summer run, the band is preparing for several high-profile regional shows, and then heading out west in October, culminating in their first return to the San Francisco Bay area since moving back home to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
