Horseradish, preserves and cream cheese create a delicious appetizer

A perfect appetizer for any occasion is Jezebel served with cream cheese and crackers.

I was given this recipe from a friend years ago. This appetizer was made for her wedding 29 years ago, and she has made this dish ever year thereafter on Christmas Eve.

Family and friends who attend her Christmas Eve party each year look forward to this dish. It is sweet, tangy and rich all at the same time, but not overpowering. Year after year, this is the first dish to vanish from the buffet.

This photo was taken at her buffet Dec. 24, 2012. Thanks, Jacquie, for always providing this for the holidays!

Jezebel

Ingredients

  • 1 12-ounce jar pineapple preserves
  • 1 18-ounce jar apricot preserves
  • ¼ cup
  • 3 teaspoons dry mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in a small pan, stir constantly over medium heat until well blended.  Serve with an 8-ounce package of cream cheese and crackers.

From the scriptures

Almost all books in the Bible contain references to foods. Luke 4:4 says, “It is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Reading the Bible will supply you with spiritual food the same way that cooking and consuming food supplies your body with physical food.
