FOLEY, Ala. -- Franchiska “Fran” Fisher’s pencil-and-ink drawing was selected as the official artwork for the eighth annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival. The festival will be held at the Foley Sportspark on Father’s Day weekend, June 15 – 17.
Fisher is originally from Mississippi but has spent the last 25 years in Alabama. She proudly calls Bay Minette her home and enjoys spending time with her cats, Pogo and Phebee. Fisher has been creating works of art for many years. Her earliest creative memories are from painting with watercolors in her backyard as a young child. Fisher prefers using pencil, watercolors and acrylics to create one of-a-kind pieces for her private collection. Fran gains personal enjoyment from sketching architectural structures such as old church buildings.
Fisher’s poster depicts a colorful hot air balloon surrounded by a variety of lively creatures enjoying music, arts and food.
“The artwork captures the essence of the festival and we are excited to share this artwork with our guests”, said Angie Johnston, 2012 festival chair.
Official festival posters and T-shirts depicting the official artwork will be available for purchase at the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival. To purchase the artwork in advance visit, www.southbaldwinchamber.com or call the South Baldwin Chamber at 251-943-3291.

The event will take place at the Foley Sports Park, located at 18507 U.S. Highway 98, Foley, and admission to the festival is free. Weather permitting; balloons fly early mornings and late evenings.
