• Pitcher Makenna Pierce and catcher Aspyn Godwin of Daphne named to Class 6A first team; Ta'Lia Brown of Baldwin County High to 6A second team

MONTGOMERY—The Alabama Sports Writers Association announced their 2015 All-State teams from Alabama High School Athletic Association and Alabama Independent Schools Association teams across the state.

Daphne’s freshman battery of Makenna Pierce and catcher Aspyn Godwin made the first team in Class 6A.

Senior outfielder Ta'Lia Brown of Baldwin County High was named to the second team in Class 6A. Karsen Mosley (pitcher) and (3B) Karsen Mosley of Saraland also received all-state honors.

Each class has a first and second team and several honorable mention performers at each position. In addition to the normal position players, there are four pitchers, two designated hitters and two utility players on each team. A utility player must have played more than one position during the year.

Miss Softball will be announced at the annual ASWA convention June 14 in Mobile.
