Hugh A. Wyatt, 83, a resident of Silverhill, passed from this life to heaven on Thursday, May 23, 2013.
He was born May 14, 1930 in Selma as the youngest son to Walter and Rose Wyatt. He married the former Ola Jean Pope (deceased Sept. 16, 2005) in 1950 and they raised their family in New Orleans, living there for 35 years.
While in New Orleans, he owned and operated a service station, later two drive-in restaurants and then began his career in the insurance and investment industry with Ozark National Life and NIS Financial Services.
In 1986, he and his wife moved to Silverhill, continuing his occupation but enjoying a peaceful, rural lifestyle in Baldwin County.
He was a member of the Robertsdale Church of Christ. He was active in participating in and supporting various mission programs and Christian education.
He was a board member of Amridge University in Montgomery, and a former member of the Robertsdale Rotary Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary deSambourg Wyatt, whom he married on June 9, 2007; and three children, Richard (Kally) Wyatt of Silverhill, Lisa Wyatt of Aurora, Colo. and Elizabeth Diane (Louis) Dedmon of Clarksville, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.
We will miss his kind, loving and generous spirit, but rejoice in his victory in being with The Lord.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., at the Robertsdale Church of Christ, with a visitation following the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made to a cause he loved and supported, the Christian Relief Fund, P.O. Box 19670, Amarillo, TX 79114 (www.christianrelieffund.org).
Condolences may be offered at www.mackfuneral.com.
