‘iCarly’ star Jennette McCurdy debuting new music at Eastern Shore Centre March 25

SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Michael Harris is accustomed to squealing girls capable of reaching pitches heard only by pets and woodland creatures.

Nothing prepared the father of two elementary school-aged daughters, however, for the simultaneous ear-splitting shriek the pair unleashed on the Prodisee Center parking lot in Spanish Fort after learning one of their favorite TV stars is Eastern Shore bound.

Jennette McCurdy, star of Nickelodeon’s “iCarly” and Capitol Records Nashville recording artist, will hit the Eastern Shore Centre at 6 p.m. March 25 as part of her 30-stop  “Generation Love for St. Jude Mall Tour.”

“(McCurdy) will be here to sing a few songs and sign autographs for a CD/charity bundle donation of $10,” said Kristen Kammer-Hattox, marketing director for the Eastern Shore Centre.

The combination meet-and-greet and mini-concert will take place in the fountain courtyard, weather permitting. Premiere Cinema has offered its lobby if inclement weather strikes.

Harris said he has already resigned himself to the outing.

“I guess I know where I’m spending my Friday night,” he said, as 8-year-old Rebekah chanted, “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh,” and 10-year-old Rachael texted her friends at the speed of light.

The event is designed to highlight McCurdy’s burgeoning career as a singer and songwriter, but all proceeds from the cash-only promotion will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The charity bundle will include a two-song single and an 8-by-10 photograph.

“We’re hoping for a large turnout. The fountain area can hold hundreds of people, so it should be a great location,” Kammer-Hattox said.
