Ila Mae Harris Cook, 86, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at home.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Greensboro until 2006 when she and her husband relocated to Fairhope to be with her son and his family.
She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She married her best and closest friend, Earnest Lee Cook, when she was 16 years old and he was 15 and was married for 67 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Raymond and Fannie Harris; and sister, LaVada Fikes.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Rufus Cook of Taiwan and Bobby R. (Emily) Cook of Fairhope; brother, Pete (Laura) Harris of Moundville; a special beloved niece, Sue Ann (Kenny) Elliot of Greensboro; grandchildren, Robin Epperson, Heather Cook, Dustin Cook, Brandon Cook, Aeril Cook and Colin Cook; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandaughter.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30 at New Hope Cemetery, Greensboro, with the Rev. Arthur Thomas and the Rev. Ray Averette officiating.
The family requests memorial donations be made to New Hope Church Cemetery Fund.
