William F. “Bill” Imle, 48, loving father and husband, a native of Maryland and a resident of Daphne, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 3, 2007.
He was a 1981 graduate of the University of Maryland.
He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served six years as a CH-46 helicopter pilot before transitioning to the U.S. Coast Guard.
He served over 17 years as a Coast Guard Search and Rescue pilot and retired at the rank of Commander in 2005.
He was employed by Lockheed-Martin as an aviation training consultant.
He was very active in the Daphne community as a member of the Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, where he was also a member of the Wednesday Morning Men's Group.
He also served as an assistant scoutmaster for BSA Troop 109 in Spanish Fort.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Daphne; children, Malia, Steven and Melissa, all of Daphne; parents, Ernest and Portia Imle of Silver Spring, Md.; brother, Paul (Kathy) Imle of Gonvick, Mich.; sisters, Crissie Imle (Colin) Mackenzie of Baltimore, Jane Imle (Mike) Schmidt of Pasadena, Md.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gordon and Judy Pinger of Bellaire, Mich.; brothers-in-law, Gordy Pinger of Clinton Twp., Mich., and Ken (Jan) Pinger of Davisburg, Mich.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7 at the church.
