Incumbents begin new terms in Loxley

LOXLEY, Alabama —The town’s five councilmembers and mayor were sworn in during an organizational meeting Monday night at Loxley Town Hall.

Councilmembers Michael Allegri, Katherine Breeden, Richard Teal, Wally Sabin, Jeffrey Knight and Mayor Billy Middleton were sworn in by municipal judge Michael Dasinger.

Teal was elected mayor pro tempore.

In addition Melissa Lawrence was reappointed as town clerk and treasurer. Richard Rider was reappointed as superintendent of public works.

Jake Traweek was reappointed as building inspector and John M. Cason was reappointed as police chief.

Haymes Snedeker was reappointed prosecutor and Dasinger was reappointed judge.

Councilmembers were also appointed to committees during the meeting. Teal and Allegri were named to the police department as well as the parks and recreation department committees, Sabin and Knight to the fire department and business license committees, Sabin and Allegri to the building department, Teal and Knight to public works, Breeden and Knight to administrative, Breeden and Allegri to beautification, Sabin and Breeden to health department and Teal and Breeden to check signing.

In other business from Monday night, the council agreed to pay $4,629 for a new computer server for municipal court.
