Informative debate was more like a political rally

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — We’ve all been hearing so much about health care reform and there is so much misinformation, so many rumors, and far too much fear and doom and gloom “facts” being spread by both the media and politicians.

I attended the Orange Beach Town Hall meeting and Rep. Jo Bonner was very well prepared, of course. He had his charts, his well rehearsed statements and was very well spoken.

But rather than experiencing an informative debate about health care reform I instead experienced a political rally with an audience comprised almost entirely of Mr. Bonner’s conservative Republican support base.

I hope that those who attended will keep in mind that a majority of Americans want, and support, health care reform.

There are two independent nonpartisan sources of information readily available on the Internet: factcheck.org and themiddleclass.org, and anyone can find detailed and easy to read facts and information.

About health care reform, or any other issue.

I urge everyone to go to themiddleclass.org and click on Alabama.

You will find a report card on each of our senators and representatives, and it gives a description of key bills and legislation and how each individual voted on issues that most effect middle class Alabama. Mr. Bonner received an F for 2009 and 2008.
