Island vibes and fire magic take over movie night at Lillian Recreational Park

Posted

Lillian Recreational Park is bringing a taste of the tropics to Baldwin County with a free movie night set for Friday, June 6, complete with island music, fire tricks and festive family fun.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. and promises more than just a film. Attendees are encouraged to don their best island attire for a full lineup of activities that channel the spirit of the Pacific. Guests can take part in hula lessons, test their flexibility in a limbo contest, or be wowed by a professional fire eater's daring display. Live steel drum music by Colin Beasley will add to the beachside atmosphere.

The limbo contest comes with prizes and plenty of chances for friendly competition. Organizers say the goal is to get everyone moving and smiling — with bragging rights on the line for those who can bend the lowest.

As the sun sets, the lawn will turn into an open-air theater. Families are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy "Moana 2," the animated sequel that follows the spirited voyager on a new oceanic adventure to protect her people and embrace her destiny. With its themes of courage and culture, the film is expected to resonate with audiences of all ages.

The event is part of the Park's ongoing Movies and Music in the Park series, aimed at creating safe, engaging entertainment for the community.

The park's concession stand will be open throughout the evening, offering refreshments and tropical-themed snacks.

Lillian Recreational Park is located at 33914 Widell Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
