ART AND BACH LENTEN RETREAT

DATE/TIME: Friday through Sunday

LOCATION: Beckwith Camp and Conference Center in Fairhope. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Daphne, AL, is hosting a very special Lenten retreat. Rev. Thack Dyson, rector of St. Paul’s will serve as spiritual leader and Paul Anderson, organist-choirmaster at St. Paul’s, will serve as musician for the retreat. The focus of the retreat is the Suffering Savior in the Passion of Christ. The retreat’s activities will be built around the viewing of a multimedia presentation using the complete St. Matthew Passion of Johann Sebastian Bach. The music accompanies art drawn from two sources- a 15th century painting with all the scenes from the Passion of Christ by the Flemish artist Hans Memling and Passion woodcuts by the German artist Albrecht Durer. People of all denominations are invited to attend

COST: The cost of the retreat, which includes the program, meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch, and your room for two nights is $210.00 for double occupancy or $257.00 a single room

GRACE FELLOWSHIP PRESBYTERIAN YARD SALE

DATE/TIME: Saturday, 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

LOCATION: grace Fellowship Presbyterian, located at 19470 County Road 6, Gulf Shores, proceeds to benefit its Youth and Missions Program. Grace Fellowship is located 1/2 mile west of Alabama 59 on Baldwin County 6. Weather is no concern, since the sale will be held in the gymnasium.

We expect to be offering appliances, household items, furniture, sports equipment, televisions, baby furniture, etc. for sale. The value of any items contributed to the sale will be tax deductible, and will be accepted beginning March 12th.

SPRING CONCERT OF PRAISE

DATE/TIME: Sunday, 8: 15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

LOCATION: First Baptist Church Gulf Shores Sanctuary. The Choir and Orchestra presents a Spring Concert of Praise. Worship leader Jim Van Matre has added a Church Orchestra with two pianos. Come join the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores. Bring your voice, talent and life to serve Christ with us through Music, Worship and Praise in a blended atmosphere of Worship. More instruments and players are needed. The choir Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Music Suite/Worship Center.

The “Stations of The Cross” are a popular devotion which commemorates the Passion and death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It consists of fourteen stations, each of which stands for an event which occurred during Jesus' Passion and death at Calvary on Good Friday. A person is to meditate about each event and pray.

LENTEN, LUNCH AND LABYRINTH

LOCATION: Gulf Shores United Methodist Church Auditorium. For an hour each Thursday beginning at noon, there will be different Lenten lessons offered by local area clergy, served with a light lunch with an opportunity to prayer walk the labyrinth. The GSUMC Labyrinth Keepers want to share this opportunity with all people and denominations in the surrounding communities.. Additionally, the Labyrinth will be open from 3:00 to 7:00 pm to walk and pray.
