FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Now you can learn Argentine tango from the top teachers from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In June, both Vilma Martinez and Alejandro Gee will be teaching beginner-intermediate Argentine tango in the Gulf Coast area through a series of workshops.

Workshops will be held in Fairhope at the Southern Edge Dance Studio.

Martinez has been dancing since she was 9 years old. She learned under the guidance and tutelage of Jose “Pepito” Avellaneda, worked and had lessons with authorities such as Juan Carlos Copes, Graciela Gonzalez, Mingo Pugliese and Carlitos Perea.

She was a member of the worldwide successful tango musical “Tanguera,” created by Diego Romay, subbing for the famous dancer Maria Nieves during the 2003 tour.

Gee, Martinez’s partner, will assist her with lessons.

He grew up in a tango family and became involved with the dance style at an early age in Buenos Aires.

For more information and details of dates and times of the workshop, contact Ben Samel at (251) 605-2657 or by e-mail at brsmichael@aol.com.

She will be in the United States from June 4-23.
