Jacqueline Wilson Marquard earned her wings on June 27, 2016 after a long battle with lung disease.
Her parents were Vaud Wilson Sr. and Winnie (both deceased). She was born on Sept. 23, 1949 in Baldwin County, Alabama.
She attended Bay Minette High School. She was employed by Orange Grove Utilities, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
She married Carlos Cooper (deceased) and had two sons, Chris Cooper and Chad Cooper (deceased) and resided in Robertsdale, Alabama. She has one grandson, Brady Bender of Robertsdale, Alabama. She later married Fred Marquard (deceased).
She was predeceased by her brothers, J.W. Wilson, Vaud Wilson Jr. and Fred Wilson, all of Baldwin County, Alabama; her sisters, Ruby Johnson and Janice Hadley of Gulfport, Mississippi and Bernadine Boyington and Delores Hinote of Robertsdale, Alabama.
To say that family was important to Jackie is an understatement. She absolutely loved getting family and friends together for holidays, canning, card playing and casinos, but most of all to cheer on her beloved University of Alabama.
She was the last to join “The Golden Girls” in Heaven – sisters who all lived together after being widowed. I know it was a joyous reunion. They were each known for particular dishes that our family loved. Jackie’s were deviled eggs and delicious fudge.
The sisters enjoyed traveling together, especially their annual fishing trip to Lake Martin to catch crappie.
Jackie was known by many names, Mama, Aunt Jackie, Jack and Maw Maw. Maw Maw to Kolton Goss (Long Beach), Jonathan and Summer Streetman (Gulfport), William Herrin, Kayla Johnson, Ethan and Aiden McClemurry (Gulfport). Second Mom to Christina, Deanna and Gena Johnson. She was known as Aunt Jackie to so many we cannot name.
Many thanks to her caregivers, Kaycee Thrash, Traci East, Grace Kelley, Penny Walker and most of all, Jackie’s son Chris (Shellie), who were with her until her last breath.
Please join us for a “Celebration of Life” on Friday, July 1 at Waters Farm, located at 24120 Fountain Street, Robertsdale, Alabama. Memorial begins at 6:15 p.m. with dinner to follow.
Until we meet again … ROLL TIDE.
