MOBILE, Alabama — Daphne High School assistant football coach Jacy Todd, who was severely injured in a two-vehicle incident Aug. 1, was improved enough for a five-to six hour surgery scheduled for Wednesday, according to a blog set up to keep friends and well-wishers informed.
Glenn Vickery, Daphne head football coach and athletic director said Thursday morning that, “All went well.”
The blog, sponsored by CaringBridge.org, indicated that Todd is completely off sedation and is tolerating the adjustment well. Doctors removed tubes from his chest and legs and were weaning him off of a ventilator before the surgery needed to realign his spine and further treat internal injuries to major organs.
Before the surgery, the coach, who also teaches history and coaches golf at Daphne, wanted his wife Dyeatra to rub his stomach because his staples are itching.
“This is a great sign that he has feeling in his stomach,” said the blog author who also asked for continued prayers.

Steps are under way to help the Todd family with expenses, including a t-shirt sale. Denise Morgan is a contact person for placing t-shirt orders at Daphne High School. To place your order, you can call her at 251-458-4823.
