"Jag Glass" among the works on display at First Friday Art Walk

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The University of South Alabama Baldwin County will present “Jag Glass 2014,” a student and faculty art show, at First Friday Art Walk in downtown Fairhope tonight from 6-8 p.m.

The show will include the work of USA advanced student artists: David Wiss, Danielle Warner, Leah Fox, Hannan Gold-Vukson, Tammy Reese, Kevin Landry, Katharine Martin, Elizabeth Baird, Stephanie Stringfellow, Tayler Morgan, Skylar Nicholson and more. The faculty includes Rene Culler, Glass Program Coordinator; Matthew Patterson and Rachel Wright.

“We are proud to show the creative work made by students of all levels; as much time, hard work, and attention to craftsmanship was needed to produce high quality objects,” USA Baldwin Glass Program Director Rene Culler said.

ESAC EXHIBITS: Also at First Friday Art Walk, the Eastern Shore Art Center welcomes visitors, free of charge, to view its current exhibits. Refreshments are provided. Exhibits include folk artist Lucy Hunnicut’s “Sweet Hand of Mystery,” sculptor and painter Lonnie Rich’s “Wood and Stone, Sand and Sea,” the ESAC Members’ Juried Show and live portrait painting demos by Greg Cartmell. AUTHOR ROUNDUP: Page and Palette will host a “First Friday Author Roundup” from 6-8 p.m. at the bookstore on Section Street. Joe Pileggi, author of “Fearless: 90 Days to Eliminating Fear From Your Life,” as well as Janet Brice Parker (“The Ivy Stays Green: Southern Short Stories”) and Wynona Rogers (“Riches to Rags: One Woman’s Story of Betrayal and Redemption”) will take part in the event.

More than two dozen vendors show their work at each First Friday Art Walk. Many of Fairhope’s restaurant and stores also participate in the event.
