BAY MINETTE — A Baldwin County jailer is on the other side of the bars after he was arrested Wednesday.

Racheen Migael Cox, 29, of 4200 Lanain Drive, Mobile, was charged with custodial sexual misconduct, a felony, and harassing communications, after a brief investigation, said Capt. Steve Arthur of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Cox, who is employed as a corrections officer for BCSO, is currently incarcerated inthe Baldwin County Corrections Center in Bay Minette.

“An investigation was initiated after a complaint was made by an inmate last week,” Arthur said in a press release. “During the course of the investigation, probable cause was developed that an incident occurred at the correction center and after the inmate made bond, Cox made and continued with inappropriate and unwanted communication with the complainant.”

Cox was being held with no bond and was scheduled to have a bond hearing Thursday, after the paper’s deadline.

Cox has been placed on suspension from duty pending the investigation and trial.
