James Avery Thompson Sr., 84, of Gulf Shores, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Gulf Shores.
He was a member of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church, was a member of American Legion and Coastal Senior Golf Club. He Served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife Mary Elizabeth Davis Thompson; daughter, Mary Anne Manuel of Ramsey, N.J.; son, James Avery Thompson Jr. of Oregon; sister, Hilda Herring of Pensacola, Fla.; brother, William Thompson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
Graveside funeral services and interment were held Thursday, June 25 at will be at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the United Methodist Church of Gulf Shore, P.O. Box 374, Gulf Shores, AL 36547.
