James Douglas Etheridge, 56, born in Tuscaloosa and a longtime resident of Daphne, passed away Aug. 12, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was a graduate of Brookwood High School and the University of Alabama.
Doug was employed by the Baldwin County Board of Education as an attendance officer, but also served as a coach and teacher at Fairhope High School for 27 years.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Patty Etheridge; two sons, Bro. Christopher Bragg Etheridge and Cody Hamilton Etheridge; his parents, Charles and Sue Etheridge; his brother, Craig Etheridge; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, from 6 until 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne. The celebrant will be the Rev. Matthew J. O’Connor.
Burial will follow in Belforest Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Fillingim, Drew Corley, Stuart Fuller, Ralph Watson, Mike Nix and Joe Allen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Martiniere, Joey Cain, Ryan Fillingim, Michael Fillingim, Mike Price, Randy White, Tim Lazzari, Phillip Webb, Danny Beebe and Steve Sims.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Doug’s memory to the Institute of the Incarnate Word, 5706 Sargent Road, Chillum, MD 20782.
