James Harold “Jim” Smith, 78, of Robertsdale, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Jim retired from the Air Force and then from civil service at NADEP. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed tending to his garden and fruit trees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dempsey Boyd Smith, and Ethel and Jerry Jones; also his brothers, William and Charles Smith.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Marie Smith; three daughters, Sheryl (Erik) Solberg, Evelyn (Henry) Sherman and Cynthia (Rodney) Nowlin; three sons, Jon Jon Smith, James Smith and Mike (Linda) Hinson; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Major (Judy) Jones of Foley and Nickey (Melba) Jones of Gulf Shores; many nieces and nephews; and his extended family of 35 years, Bill Wilson.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to the caregivers at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center and the Joyce Goldenberg Covenant Hospice of Pensacola.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola.
