James “Jim” Mogan, a native of Brazil, Ind. and longtime resident and business owner in Gulf Shores, passed away Wednesday July 30, 2014 after a battle with leukemia.
He loved both of his homes dearly. He and his wife of 54 years, Shirley Mogan, owned and operated a motel and condo rental business on West Beach Boulevard for 30 years.
Jim enjoyed every aspect of living and working at the beach. The biggest and best perk was that friends and family from Indiana visited often.
Prior to his venture as a hotel owner he worked 22 years for Eckrich Meats in Evansville Ind.
Jim loved spending time with his family that includes his daughter, Jamie Mogan; son, Matt Mogan; daughter-in-law, Belinda Mogan; and grandkids, Megan Kutter, Jacob and Jenna Mogan, all of Gulf Shores.
He was an avid reader, and loved working in his yard.
He will be greatly missed by his family that includes those mentioned, as well as a brother, Joe Mogan; nephews, Mike and Greg Mogan; niece, Sue Goshen and all of their families, all from Indiana.
He was a blessed man with many friends.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, from 3 until 6 p.m., at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church’s activity center in Gulf Shores.
Service and burial will follow at home in Brazil, Ind. on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014.
