James Marvin Cobb,age 78, a native of Paul, Ala., and longtime resident of Selma, died Saturday Sept. 15th, 2012 with family by his side at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.
Mr. Cobb was loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by many. Born Aug. 23rd 1934 and raised in Paul, Cobb moved his family to Selma in 1971 to begin working at Hammermill Paper Co. Which became International Paper, he retired in 1996. While in Selma he was an avid deer hunter and proudly held the title of vice president of the Riverdale Hunting Club for many years. He was a devoted husband of 58 years to Edna “Faye” Pate Cobb. He is also survived by two daughters, Sheila (Ernest) McCraney and Brenda (Sean) Knights; four granddaughters, Brittany McCraney Moody, Ashton Nicole McCraney, Leslie Ammons Osterday and Lendsy Peyton Ammons; 3 step grandchildren Donaven, Mackenzie and Christian Knights and 6 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Doris Thomason and Nell Cobb and a host of nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by two sons, James Bryon Cobb, James Gregory Cobb and recently by his brother (and lifelong best friend) Harvey Gordon Cobb. Visitation will be held on Wednesday Sept. 19, 2012 at Cope Funeral Home in Evergreen, beginning at 1 p.m. with the funeral following at 2 p.m. with a burial followed at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Paul Ala.
