James Richard Hooks, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 22, 2015. A native and longtime resident of Mobile, Jim retired to Fairhope several years ago.
Jim was a man with a huge heart, who loved sweet tea, rock ‘n’ roll and country music and his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Richard and Marie Hooks, he is survived by his brother, Tommy Hooks of Athens, Ala.; and his sisters, Brenda (Davey) Riley of Eufaula, Ala. and Susan and Guerry McDavid of Fairhope, Ala. He loved his nieces and nephews, Anna Arnold, Taylor Hooks, Charlie McDavid, Will McDavid, Buzz Riley and Mike Riley. He was so proud of his great niece and nephews Brock and Broday McDavid, Brycen and Cannon Arnold and Izabella Hooks. Jim made friends wherever he went, but his lifelong friend was Steve Smith of Mobile, Ala.

Our family is grateful for the care he received his last year at Fairhope Health and Rehab. Jim is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Jim's celebration of life will be Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, 10 a.m., at Pine Rest Funeral Home.
