James Robert “Bobby” Evans, 81, a native of Pensacola, Fla., a former resident of Gulf Shores and a resident of Robertsdale, died peacefully at his home in Robertsdale.
He was one of four children born to Edward and Pauline Evans. He was a 1947 graduate of Robertsdale High School and played on the 1947 Robertsdale High School Championship Football Team. He served in the U.S. Air Force and earned his A.A. from New Mexico State University, his B.S. from Livingston University and his Masters from Alabama A&M University.
He served 30 years as a teacher, coach and principal with the Escambia County School System. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Barbara Jean Evans; and his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Norene Evans of Gulf Shores; four daughters, Debbie (Keith) Bradford of Robertsdale, Pamela (James) Foy of Jackson, Tenn., Lisa (Donnie) Jones of Pace, Fla., and Julie (Lamar) Farrington of Milton, Fla.; brother, Edward Evans of Silverhill; two sisters, Mary Badley of Pace, Fla., and Betty Cooper of Panama City, Fla.; grandchildren, Melanie Teston, Wesley Jones, Bobby Braddock, Lee Braddock, Adam Foy, Terry Farrington, Bonnie Lewis, Becky Bradford and Isaac Bradford; and eight great-grandchildren.
