James Thomas “Jimmy” Hamrick III, a native of Mobile and a longtime resident of Fairhope, died Wednesday, March, 30, 2011.
He graduated from UMS, then attended the University of Alabama. After college he joined the Navy and served for 2 years aboard the USS Bache. Afterward he returned home and joined the family business, Hamrick Motor Company.
He is best remembered by his loyal customers and employees as president and owner of Hamrick Toyota. He was an original sponsor of the Mobile Masters Golf Tournament.
He enjoyed all the Mobile area had to offer. He was active in a Mobile mystic society and enjoyed hunting and fishing in the outdoors. He was also an avid Alabama Football fan.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Nell Franklin Hamrick of Fairhope; daughter, Hallie Nell (Patrick) Eberlein of Cartersville, Ga.; two sons, James T. “Jimmy” (Patricia) Hamrick IV of Mobile and John P. (Leslie) Hamrick of Summerdale; sister, Thyra Mae Layden of Mobile; grandchildren, Patrick and Ryan Eberlein, Kathryn, Elizabeth and Meredith Hamrick, Sydney and James Nash Hamrick; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
