James Townend Aman (Jim), 88, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017.

Jim was born in Decatur, Illinois on Jan. 26, 1929. He was married to Donna, his wife of 65 years, on May 3, 1952.

Jim served in the army during the Korean War. Jim worked as a district manager for Illinois Power Co. for over 35 years.

He was active in many civic organizations and held leadership positions in Rotary, Young Men's Club and Personnel Council. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna; son, David and wife, Linda; son, Stephen and wife, Sherry; three grandchildren, Colleen (Joshua) Boehm, Madison Aman and Miranda Aman; two great-grandchildren, Shannon and Evelien Boehm; and his brother, Joseph Aman and wife, Loretta; and their children and grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Aman; and his mother, Helen (Townend) Aman.

The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope, Alabama.

A military committal service will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope, Alabama.
