James V. Blackmon

James V. Blackmon, 78, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, in Bay Minette.

Mr. Blackmon was a native of Rabun and a resident of Bay Minette for most of his life.

He was in the Rabun Volunteer Fire Department (30 years), Bay Minette Fire Department, auxiliary deputy with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department, auxiliary police with the Bay Minette Police Department and retired from the Baldwin County Board of Education with 48 years and 4 months of service.

He attended Vision Ministries Church of God.

His parents, George T. and Sarah A. Blackmon; and two brothers, Virgil Blackmon and Elvie T. Blackmon; preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years and 10 months, Eunice M. Blackmon of Bay Minette; two sons, the Rev. James Alan (Michelle) Blackmon of Bay Minette and Jeremy Brian (Tiffany) Blackmon of Bay Minette; a sister, Annie Lucille Stewart of Rabun; four grandchildren, Alison Blackmon, Amber Leigh Blackmon, Ayriel Skye Blackmon and Meri-Katharyn Sara Blackmon; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Vision Ministries Church of God, with the Rev. James Alan Blackmon and the Rev. Steve Sexton officiating.

Burial will follow in Dean Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, from 6 p.m. until the service time.

Pallbearers will be Larry Stewart, Kevin Stewart, Edward Blackmon, Arch Rotch, Andy Russell and Wendall Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Hartley, Roland Rotch and Clarence Bramlett.
