Jane Carol Culpepper (June 27, 1934-Oct. 28, 2013) of Silverhill passed away peacefully at the home of her brother, M.I. Culpepper, in Chelsea, Ala., losing her battle with cancer.

Jane was born in Gulfport, Miss. She lived there until 1939. When her family moved to Chickasaw, she attended Chickasaw Elementary and Barton Academy, graduating from Murphy High School in 1951.

While living in Chickasaw, Jane attended the First Baptist Church, and was baptized by the Rev. Swearingen, after accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Jane was a cost accountant for International Paper Co. until she became disabled with myasthenia gravis, a debilitating disease of the muscles.

Before becoming disabled, Jane was an avid golfer, softball player, bowler and bridge player. Jane also liked to fish.

She had a house on Fish River until Hurricane Danny flooded her out. She then built a house in Silverhill. Even though living in Silverhill, Jane had a lot on Weeks Bay, and with her boat, motor, trailer and shrimp net, could be found on most Saturdays fishing with her friends. Jane never married.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton I. Culpepper Sr.

She is survived by her brother, M.I. Culpepper Jr.

Even with the disability at an early age, Jane lived a full and adventurous life ... always considering herself blessed with her family and friends. She will be missed.

The family would like to give special thanks to Christina and Kerry of Comfort Care Hospice for their loving care and concern. The family also gives a very special thanks to Dr. Tim Cox, senior pastor and the Rev. Alan Kuykendall, associate pastor, of Liberty Baptist Church of Chelsea for their visits and prayers during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at 10 a.m., from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Honeycutt presiding. Interment will follow in Brook Cedron Cemetery on U.S. Highway 98.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to your favorite charity, or to the building fund of the Liberty Baptist Church, 11050 Chelsea Road, Chelsea, AL 35043.

Arrangements by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.
