DAPHNE, Ala.—“Communion at sunset with a view overlooking Mobile Bay.”
That’s how St. Paul’s Episcopal Church — 28788 N. Main St., Daphne — is inviting Baldwin County residents to come to the church on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. The service takes place in the Great Hall of the church’s new Life Center.
The parish choir will sing the main parts of the liturgy with music from the Missa Jazzis of Joe Utterback, jazz musician, composer, and church musician. Rodney Hoffman, jazz musician from Fairhope, will alternate between trumpet and flugelhorn, and music director Paul Anderson will lead from the piano. They will join together on two other Utterback pieces for the prelude and postlude: “Deep River” and “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho.”
The Rev. Thack Dyson, rector, will officiate at the service and will offer the homily. In the Episcopal tradition, all baptized Christians are invited to receive Communion.
St. Paul’s is one block east of Highway 98. Turn east at Van Buren Street and then turn north one block later. The church is just ahead on the right.
