Louise S. Jenkins, 98, died peacefully, Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the home of her son Jim in Fairhope after saying a loving goodbye to her family.
She was born Aug. 18, 1909 in Elkmont to John W. and Mary J. Shinpock.
She graduated from Leeds High School and attended Samford University. Before her marriage she was employed by Liberty National Insurance Company.
She was a past president of the Birmingham chapter of the American Heart Association and served as Sunday School superintendent at Vestavia Hills Methodist Church.
She loved poetry and gardening and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Mary J. Shinpock; and her husband, John A. “Buck” Jenkins.
Survivors include a son, James R. Jenkins of Fairhope; two daughters, Bonnie (John) Bolt of Columbia, S.C., and Jennie (Mike) Murrah of Trussville; grandchildren, Caroline Bolt (Jeff) Busse of Atlanta, Douglas J. (Katharine) Bolt of Charlotte, N.C., and Meredith Murrah of Trussville; and great-grandchildren, Margaret Bolt, Madeline Busse, Thomas Bolt, Jack Bolt and Sam Busse.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 17 at Forest Hills Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
