Paul W. Jennings, 93, died Monday, March 24, 2008.
He was born in Remilton, Pa., but spent most of his life in Mentor, Ohio. He was the owner of Superior Manufacturing in Painesville, Ohio, which produced precision molds for the rubber industry. His home on Harbor Drive in Mentor overlooked Mentor Lagoons.
He was commander of the local U.S. Power Squadron Coast Guard Auxiliary and taught seamanship and navigation classes. Besides being an excellent walleye and perch fisherman on Lake Erie, he enjoyed trap shooting and pheasant hunting in South Dakota.
For the last four years of his life, he made his home in Gulf Shores with his wife of 68 years Vera Mae Jennings.
He may best be remembered for his easygoing manner, his generosity, his zest for telling stories, and prodigious recall of poems, facts and figures and choir songs.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter Carol Ann Kytta of Ocoee, Fla.; two sons Robert Jennings of Wellington, Fla., and James Jennings of Orange Beach; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29 at the home of his son James in Orange Beach. Family and friends are welcome.
