Bettie Inez Mosley Jerkins, 85, a lifelong resident of Stapleton, and a member of Galilee Primitive Baptist Church of Stapleton, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at her home.
She lived her life dedicated to her Lord and Savior as well as her family. Her life was devoted in taking care of her special child, Betty Elaine Jerkins. Although she had very little formal education, she enjoyed writing poems and songs. A book was written by her disclosing the heritage of her family and of her childhood.
Survivors include three sons, Glenwood (Edna Mae) Jerkins of Rosinton, Anthony Jerkins and Charles Edward Jerkins, both of Stapleton; three daughters, Edith Ludeen (David) Owen, Nancy Lee (James) Rider and Betty Elaine Jerkins, all of Stapleton; daughter-in-law, Maggie Jerkins; son-in-law, Franklin Phillips, both of Stapleton; 26 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, J.A. (Petie) Mosley of Stapleton; two sisters, Martha Jane Fowler of Stapleton and Annie Frances Fowler of Baton Rouge, La.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 20 at the Galilee Primitive Baptist Church in Stapleton with Elder George Mosley officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Stapleton.
Pallbearers were Michael Jerkins, Tommy Raines, Charles Raines, Randall Phillips, Jeremy Phillips and William Shurrell.
Arrangements were made by Norris Funeral Home, Bay Minette.
