Joan Ann Bushaw, of Robertsdale, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011.
She was born March 26, 1933 in Norfolk, N.Y., to Alfred and Helena Murphy.
She lived in upstate New York for 72 years where she raised her family and was a nanny for the Connolly family of Carthage, N.Y. Along with her passion for raising children, she was an avid gardener and devoted Catholic. She retired to Alabama with her husband in 2005 to escape the snow and help raise her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose, Pauline and Irene; four brothers, Robert, Alfred, Thomas, and her twin brother, Jean.
Survivors include her husband, Ward; two children, Leanna and Edward; son-in-law, Mel; daughter-in-law, Kristy; five grandchildren, Katherine “Katrina” Curran, Amy Beth Bonesteel, Jacob, Caitlyn and Regan Bushaw; and six great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brenna and Carson Curran, and Katie, Caleb and Cameron Bonesteel.
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic in Robertsdale with Father William James officiating.
The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1367, Robertsdale, AL 36567.
