Joe Abner Hodges, 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Elberta on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015.
He leaves behind two daughters, Jo Lynn Suell of Montevallo and Shawn Denise Plash of Bay Minette; five grandchildren, Joe G. Suell of Summerdale, Robert Q. Suell of Troy, Sam T. Suell of Summerdale, Wendy S. Plash of Helena and Kara Plash Magee of Helena; four great-grandchildren, Joe K. Suell and Jakob Suell of Summerdale and Clayton Suell and Tessa Suell of Troy; and a brother, Warren Hodges of Memphis, Tenn.
Joe was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Post Office.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Gwen. Joe and Gwen were natives of Mississippi, but had lived in Elberta since 1955. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at 10 a.m., at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale. Burial will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
