Joe Billy Roberson, age 88, born in Eastman, Ga., and a resident of Little River, Ala. died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at his residence.
He was an administrative clerk (retired) at Underwood Building Supply and former pastor of Little River Holiness Church and other churches in the surrounding area. He was also a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Richerson Roberson of Little River; three sons, Billy Roberson of Livingston, Tenn., Jeff (Joyce) Roberson of Little River and Timothy “Timmy” (Cathy) Roberson of Little River; three daughters, Sue (William) Ferguson of Little River, Teresa (Benny) Varnado of Saucier, Miss., and Sherry Roberson of Little River; ten grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Little River Holiness Church with the Rev. D.L. Harville officiating. Burial will follow at Mamie’s Chapel Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside by the U.S. Marine Corps. The family will receive friends Friday, March 1, 2013 from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brandon Roberson, Brian Roberson, Wayne Stringer, Shawn Stringer, Shane Ferguson, Mathew Roberson, Dustin Roberson and Trent Roberson.
