Joe Brock, 92, a lifelong resident of Baldwin County, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at his home in Summerdale, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in 1919 in Cullman County and moved to Baldwin County at an early age where he married his wife of 70 years, Rosie Mae Brooks.
He was the owner of Brock Construction Company and House Moving business for over 50 years. He was responsible for much of the growth of Baldwin County in its earlier years.
He loved Baldwin County, his family, his friends and his work. He loved farming and raising animals and spending time outdoors. He coached girls softball in Foley. He also raised his great-grandson, Blakeley Brock.
He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie Brooks Brock of Summerdale; two daughters, Betty J. Lipscomb of Silverhill and Jo Ann Wills of Silverhill; son, Jerry L. Brock of Summerdale; adopted granddaughter, Tiffany Brock of Summerdale; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 at Fish River Baptist Church, Fairhope. Burial with graveside military honors will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park, Foley.
Pallbearers are Nathan Lipscomb, Wayne Lipscomb, Byron Lipscomb, Gordon Lipscomb, Kevin Brock and Jeremy Brock.
