Joe Collins Falkner, 85, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at his Fairhope home. Joe was born in Columbiana, Alabama, on July 30, 1936, to Donald and Inez Falkner. He attended Woodlawn High School. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force in Columbus, Ohio, and it was there that he met his wife, Janis Childs. Afterwards, Joe attended Jefferson State Junior College in Birmingham, Alabama where he earned a degree as a draftsman. After his retirement, he worked at The Lakewood Golf Club in Pt. Clear, Alabama for over twenty years.
Preceding him in death by his parents and his sister, Iris Lynn Hardwick.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janis Falkner; his children, Tim, Jill (Donnie), and Dan (Joellen). Also surviving are his nine grandchildren, Allison, Patrick, Jenna, Madyson, Brad, Ryan, Kelsey Shannon, and Kyle; His nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald M. Falkner, Jr. and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
He loved Alabama Crimson Tide Football, playing golf and gardening, where he was an expert at growing tomatoes! Joe will always be remembered as a kind man with a sweet spirit.
