John Adam Russell Jr., 86 of Manchester, Tenn., passed away into rest on Feb. 27, 2014.

Mr. Russell, a native of Loxley, was a retired operations supervisor with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in Gallatin, Tenn., a United States Navy veteran and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Mr. Russell, who was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Manchester, cherished his faith as a unique gift of God.

He was a master woodworking and machine shop craftsman who enjoyed metal work, boating, model trains and RV travel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late John Adam Russell Sr. and Carrie Fanny Predazzer Russell; grandson, Joshua Russell Gorski; and sisters, Florence Sellers, Lucille Armstrong and Frances Carruthers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Esther Strauss Russell of Manchester, Tenn.; children, Patricia Ann Davidson (Garry) of Estill Springs, Tenn.,  Elisa Russell McDole (Ron) of Gallatin, Tenn., Ronalda Russell Smith (Darrell) of Old Hickory, Tenn., Mary Lynn McGrew (Steve) of Mounds, Okla., John Adam Rusell III (Pamela) of Clinton, Tenn., Edward Andrew Russell (Shirley) of Lapine, Ore. and Valerie Marie Gorski (Tom) of Gallatin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Michele McLaughlin, Harold C. Johnson, Dustin M. McGrew, John A. Russell IV, C. Scott Russell, Matthew  T. Russell, Shannon L. Russell, Jacob A. McDole, Jeffrey C. McDole, Jennifer J. McDole, P. Chase Smith, S. Clay Smith, A. Clark Smith, Christian G. Smith, J. Thomas Gorski, Emily A. Gorski, Melanie N. Hamrick, Troy S. Flanagan, Nanette M. Flanagan, Eric G. Flanagan, Cara L. York, Dana A. Hirl and Johanna Flanagan; and sister, Elizabeth Cooper of Roswell, Ga.

The funeral mass was held Monday, March 3, 2014 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Manchester, Tenn. Burial was at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors.
